Joe Wong killed it at the Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner.

Here’s what Joe had to say about the experience himself:

DC is such an epicenter of power and press. Even buildings in DC have newspaper terms, columns, posts, and poles.

I did the sound check in the morning, then everyone had to leave for a 3 hour security sweep of the building. Later I went to the VIP pre-dinner party where I met senators Lamar Alexandar and Orrin Hatch.

The dinner for the most part was a pretty somber affair. It started with the national anthem. A group of marines carried the flag to the front.

I was seated at the head table. I was a bit concerned about eating in front of 2000 people, but fortunately everyone was very engaged in the conversation at their table. I was very curious what they were talking about, especially considering the fact that Bill O’Reilly was seated right next to Jesse Jackson.

Joe Biden made a speech after the dinner and the awards and announcements. He turned out to be a great comedian. After the show we chatted a bit. He even did a callback on one of my jokes. Mr. Biden said, “When you become big and famous, and I visit you, and your people tell you, ‘Joe Biden is at the door’, just don’t go, ‘Joe Who?’”

The crowd is bit more up-tight than the crowds I am used to performing in front of. But I did well and got a standing ovation after my set. When I was on the podium, I saw Kathy Griffin in the audience and I kept thinking, “Is that Kathy Griffin? Why is she here? Did she get a gig at some news channel?”

It was weird what goes through my mind when I was delivering my lines.

After my show senator Lindsey Graham came and congratulated me. I chatted with Scott Brown’s wife and daughter a bit. I got a lot of pictures taken with people, including one woman from Boston who said to me, “I want to take a picture with you, but first I have to know that you are a Red Sox fan.”

Every time after a show I always obsess about something I could’ve done better, and that evening was no exception. But my dear wife made me feel better by saying, “This is the best set you have ever done.” And I think it is.
