By the way — the only other interesting factoid I pulled out of my interview with the President of the Vancouver Whitecaps? When I asked him what kind of influence his past roles as coach of the Canadian Olympic and national teams had on his current position, he said, “It doesn’t.” I tried to press him on that, but couldn’t really get anything from it.

Other than that — we talked about the season and how the Sounders were generous for offering their business plan as a model to other clubs.

And I’d been reading that weirdly incoherent, So You Think You Want to Be A Director of a Football Club? at the time, too.

Good afternoon.

Here’s some of the news: Ontario and Quebec continue to have sluggish labor markets — Alberta, however, is leading the way (Fraser Institute); Al Jazeera’s James Bays meets Libya’s former foreign minister, now a captive; RBS has stopped lending to cluster bomb manufacturers; Obama is moving to sell Northop drones to South Korea; Syrian troops have again raided the city of Hama; and former Prime Minister Kan has posted a last blog entry.
