Johnnie Wright, the last surviving member of the innovative country duo Johnnie and Jack and husband to Kitty Wells for 73 years, died earlier today at 97 years old. Read more here…

Alvin “Youngblood” Hart, Jimbo Mathis and Luther Dickinson are three masters of the so-called neo-traditionalist movement based around Memphis and the Mississippi Hill Country. The South Memphis String Band will be visiting New Orleans for the Crescent City Blues and BBQ fest on October 15. Hart will also be playing the Maple Leaf on October 14, backed by his aptly-named power-trio Muscle Theory.
